Lipostat™ exerts it’s function by two key metabolic active ingredients that interfere with carbohydrate and fat metabolism.

Carbohydrates typically constitute 40-50% of the daily caloric intake. They are broken down in the digestive system by the enzymes amylase, sucrase and α-glucosidase into glucose that can be absorbed into the bloodstream.

1-Deoxynojirimycin acts as an inhibitor of digestive enzymes, mainly α-glucosidase and sucrase, in the small intestine. Carbohydrates which are not broken down cannot be absorbed and will pass on further in the digestive system to be excreted. Subsequently, this mechanism results in lower glucoseabsorption, thereby lowering caloric count andmitigating a ‘glucose spike’ which plays an important role in appetite regulation. Dietary fat constitutes mostly oftriglycerides which are broken down to free fatty acids bylipase in the small intestine to be absorbed in the bloodstream.
